Stellantis released the revised Ram 1000 for certain South American markets a few months after the facelifted Fiat Toro debuted, with a variety of cosmetic and technology upgrades. Despite the fact that the Ram 1000 was released three years after the original Fiat Toro, the business opted to facelift both vehicles in 2021.
The 2022 Ram 1000, as seen in the side-by-side comparison, has the same revised bumper and full-LED headlights as the high-end Fiat Toro models. The Ram emblem on the grille and the different 16-inch wheels are the only differences. The new face gives it a harder appearance than its predecessor and brings it closer to the rest of Ram's pickup lineup. With four doors and a somewhat tiny rear bed, the rest of the bodywork is basically unchanged.
A 7-inch digital instrument cluster and a larger 8.4-inch infotainment touchscreen with all current connectivity functions have been added to the interior. For added protection, the pickup receives a total of seven airbags, but don't anticipate any advanced ADAS. Aside from the badge on the steering wheel, the Ram 1000's interior is identical to the Toro's. The Toro comes with a tablet-like 10.1-inch touchscreen on higher trim levels, which could be added to future RAM 1000 models.
Unlike the 2022 Toro, which gets a new 1.3 GSE Turbo and an updated 2.0 Multijet turbodiesel, the 2022 Ram 1000 is limited to the naturally aspirated 1.8-liter e.TorQ EVO petrol engine for the time being. The engine generates 128 horsepower (95.6 kW / 130 PS) and 170.4 Nm (125.7 lb-ft) of torque, which is sent to the front axle via a six-speed automatic transmission. This model has a load capacity of 650 kg (1,433 pounds), which is smaller than its turbodiesel AWD sibling's maximum cargo capacity of 1,000 kg (2,205 pounds).
Both pickups are built in Brazil's Goiana, Pernambuco factory and are based on the Small Wide platform, which also supports the Fiat 500X and Jeep Renegade and Compass.
Pre-orders for the 2022 Ram 1000 are already open in Colombia, with Peru, the Dominican Republic, and Chile to follow soon (other markets like Brazil and Argentina get the Toro). The Big Horn trim level, which is the only available choice for pre-orders in Colombia, starts at 105,990 pesos ($27,821).
