The third generation Movano has been presented by Opel and its twin firm Vauxhall, and it features an electric option for the first time. The 2021 Movano-e electric light commercial vehicle (LCV) will join the Combo-e and Vivaro-e in European markets later this year, offering uncompromised load volume.
The electric motor of the 2021 Movano-e produces 122 PS (121 HP / 90 kW) and 260 Nm (192 lb-ft) of torque. It has a battery capacity of 37 or 70 kWh, a range of 117 km (72 miles) or 224 km (139 miles) on the WLTP test cycle, and a peak speed of 110 km/h (68 mph).
When contrast to diesel vehicles with a 2.2-liter engine, the battery is positioned between the axles under the floor and does not eat into the load volume. The engine produces 120 to 165 PS (88-121 kW) and 300 to 370 Nm (221-273 lb-ft) of torque in all versions, and is mated to a six-speed manual transmission and front-wheel drive.
The third-generation Movano is available in three body styles: chassis cab, chassis crew cab, and platform cab, with seating for up to seven people (three in basic configuration), four wheelbase lengths, and three height options, with cargo sizes ranging from 8 to 17 cubic metres (282.5-600.3 cu-ft). The loading height is 2.03m (80 in) in the H3 high-roof standard, and the doors may open to 270 degrees. It has a gross vehicle weight of 2,800-4,000 kg and a maximum payload of 2,100 kg (4,630 lbs) (6,173-8,818 lbs).
The Vauxhall/Opel Connect and MyVauxhall/MyOpel apps will be available on the Movano and Movano-e in 2021. The latter provides important information such as the location of local charging stations in the electric vehicle, whereas the former provides access to the current charge state and other information.
Regardless of configuration, all of them have Live Navigation with real-time traffic information, e-Call and b-Call technologies, and other safety features such as frontal collision alert and blind spot warning, as well as lane departure warning and hill descent control.
