Advantages👍
- The engine.
The 3.2-liter, 270-hp V6 engine is not only smooth, but it also produces effortless, steady power for a car of its size. It's calm and has a sophisticated vibe to it.We've never been fans of Fiat Chrysler's nine-speed automatic transmission, but it served us well in daily driving in the 2020 Cherokee. The shifts are much smoother than they were the previous time we drove it. For 2020, there's a new turbo-4 engine that saves a few mpg while producing the same amount of power as the V6. However, it is a more expensive option that we have not tried.
- It will be a better ride.
The last time we drove a Cherokee, the ride was bumpy and uncomfortable. The suspension has been updated, and it rides much better on smooth roads. Actually, it's rather comfortable and stable. When you strike potholes or rough sections, the vibrations are amplified and transmitted directly to the passenger cabin (as opposed to the rear passenger compartment).
- The inside.
The fit and quality are excellent. With decent materials, our High Altitude tester had a reasonably upmarket vibe. The windows are big, and visibility is good. The front seats are spacious and comfy, with enough of headroom for those with bouffants. For a tiny SUV, the rear seat space is exceptional.
- Off-road capability is available.
Jeeps must be capable of going off-road. What is the reason for this? People who do not go off-road will thus purchase them. Everyone knows you're not driving up into the hills in your Honda CR-V to drive over tree stumps. You might, however, if you drive a Jeep. You won't, but you'll pique people's interest. Jeep's marketing appeal is based on this. So, if you want to go off-roading, the Cherokee is the compact SUV to have. If not, you may mud the car and smugly look down on your neighbor's RAV4 as you arrive into your driveway after your next Target trip.
- The screen for the infotainment system.
Jeep employs Fiat Chrysler's U-Connect system, which is one of the more user-friendly interfaces available. It's well-designed, simple to use, and effective. The Jeep, like other Fiat Chrysler vehicles, has volume rocker switches on the back of the steering wheel, near your index and middle fingers. That is something that everyone should do. It's ideal in terms of ergonomics.
Disadvantages👎- It can be quite costly.
The cost of our High Altitude 4X4 was about $43,000. The Jeep image is part of what you're paying for. The off-road capability, for example, is something that 99 percent of buyers would never utilise.
- It's an upsetting ride.
When the Cherokee is on decent roads, it rides well, but when it encounters uneven pavement, it slaps you around.
- Straightaways are preferable.
On twisting roads, the Cherokee feels a little clumsy. It handles well, though it doesn't enjoy curves as much as highways.
- Mileage in the city.
To increase your total mileage, the Cherokee relies on its highest gears (the EPA says 22 mpg overall). On the freeway, it performs admirably. However, if you plan on doing most of your driving in town, keep in mind that we were getting mid-teen mileage on the low end.
- Continuity.
If you read Consumer Reports, you'll realise that Jeeps aren't Hondas or Toyotas. That is, after all, why some people purchase them. But keep in mind that Jeep hasn't always been known for its dependability. Jeep now offers a five-year, 60,000-mile powertrain guarantee, as well as a three-year bumper-to-bumper guarantee.
