The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning Pro Electric Truck is the lineup's sub-$40,000 workhorse.

Following the unveiling of the all-electric F-150 Lightning, Ford is now disclosing all details about the truck's base model, the latest F-150 Lighting Pro.
The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning Pro is the much-hyped sub-$40,000 variant designed specifically for commercial customers.

The entry-level electric Ford F-150 is powered by a dual-motor system and has a target output of 426 HP and 775 lb-ft of torque. It starts at $39,974 MSRP before any tax incentives. A complimentary 32A Ford Mobile Charger is also included, which takes 14 hours to charge the Standard-Range battery from 15% to 100%. The battery will charge from 15 to 80 percent in 44 minutes when plugged into a 150kW DC quick charger.

When equipped with the optional Max Trailer Tow kit, the electric truck is expected to have an EPA-estimated 230 miles of range, a 2000-pound maximum payload capacity, and up to 7,700 pounds of towing capability (5,000 pounds without it).

“The F-150 Lightning Pro is so much more than an electric workhorse – it's designed for commercial customers inside and out, it improves over time, and it's fully plugged into always-on services that can help business productivity,” said Jim Farley, president and CEO of Ford.

Customers who need more power and range can opt for the Extended Range battery option, which boosts performance to 563 horsepower (torque remains at 775 lb-ft) and extends the driving range to an EPA-estimated 300 miles.

The price of the latest F-150 Lightning Pro with the Extended Range battery starts at $49,974 MSRP, before any tax incentives. The electric truck's more powerful variant also comes with a more powerful 80A Level 2 Ford Charge Station Pro, which can charge the battery from 15 to 100 percent in just 8 hours. The F-150 Lightning Pro with the Extended Range battery can charge from 15 to 80 percent in 41 minutes when plugged into a 150 kW DC quick charger.

Options And Equipments

The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning Pro will only be available in the four-door, five-passenger SuperCrew body style, with a 5.5-foot cargo bed. The cheapest version of the electric truck lacks the fancy full-width LED bars, runs on smaller alloy wheels, and has unpainted bumpers and door handles, in true workhorse fashion.

Easy-to-clean vinyl seats, a 12-inch SYNC4 infotainment system, a 12-inch digital instrument cluster, and Ford's Co-Pilot 360 2.0 suite of driver assistance systems are among the standard features. Vehicle pre-conditioning and a full-size spare tire, installed under the bed with identical mounting points as the ICE-powered F-150, are also standard features.

The truck also has Ford's Intelligent Range system, which uses terrain, weather, freight and trailer load, and distance to destination to determine the remaining driving range. Customers can schedule their routes and track the battery's charge condition while driving using the system's data, which is shared with the cloud-based Ford Power My Trip. Ford will also deliver Onboard Scales as an alternative for more precise payload and driving range calculations.

The Pro Power Onboard is another basic feature, a built-in AC power source with 2.4 kW of capacity that can be accessed through four outlets in the "Mega Power Frunk," two in the cabin, and two more in the bed. Customers can choose between a 9.6 kW version of the system and a version with two 120V and one 240V AC outlets in the bed.

Ford's commercial customers will also have first access to the company's automated fleet planning tool, which measures variables such as acquisition and lease rates, federal and state tax incentives, and regional fuel and energy costs. Ford claims that the latest F-150 Lightning would cut maintenance costs by 40% over the course of eight years and 100,000 miles.

“The digital fleet planning tool can show how Ford can offer many customers a lower overall cost of ownership for a full-size commercial electric vehicle, with attractive purchasing costs, lower fuel and maintenance costs, and high residual values that we expect to mirror those of the commercial F-Series trucks,” Cannis said. “Best of all, it's packaged in a tried-and-true Built Ford Tough truck that offers everything our customers love about the F-Series today.”

Ford.Fleet.com is now accepting registrations for the entry-level 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning Pro.
