The Nissan Ariya made its public debut at the Monaco Circuit almost a year after its official unveiling.
The electric coupe crossover, which was accompanied by the company's e.dams Formula E racer, completed a few laps of the popular track in the French Riviera, as well as a photo and video shoot in the surrounding area.
“Ariya's public driving in the streets of Monaco is a fantastic way to see the capabilities of our e-4ORCE technology,” said Arnaud Charpentier, Vice President of Product Strategy and Pricing for Nissan AMIEO (Africa, Middle East, India, Europe, and Oceania). “Ariya is the epitome of Nissan's electric mobility innovation, and this event marks a watershed moment in Nissan's EV journey.”
The Ariya, like the 2019 concept that previewed it, has sleek styling on the exterior and a streamlined cabin with everything you'd expect from a modern ride, including a massive infotainment system with over-the-air updates and digital dials, each with a 12.3-inch screen. It comes with the ProPilot 2.0 safety package, which includes features including remote parking and semi-autonomous driving.
With a 65 and 90 kWh battery and 215 and 239 HP, respectively, two rear-wheel-drive models are located at the lower end of the range. They have a 280-mile (451-610-kilometer) range and can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 7.5 and 7.6 seconds, respectively, with a maximum speed of 99 mph (159 km/h). The AWD models use the same battery packs and produce 335 and 389 horsepower, with a range of 267 and 360 miles (430 and 579 kilometers) respectively. The sprint time decreases to 5.4 and 5.1 seconds, with a maximum speed of 124 miles per hour (200 kilometers per hour).
The Ariya will be available in North America, Europe, and China by the end of the year, with a starting price of 5 million yen (approximately $45,885) in Japan.
