Three Mexican Plants Nissan will be Pause Production There

Due to a semi-producing shortage that continues to paralyse the car manufacture industry Nissan is to temporarily stop production at three of its Mexican plants in June.

The Japanese manufacturer has confirmed that its plant 1 in Aguascalientes will be shut down this month for seven days, while plant 2 is shut down for one day per month at that facility. Moreover, CIVAC's plant in the state of Morelos will stop its operation in June for seven days. The dates of these shutdowns were not specified by Nissan.

Nissan said in a statement to Reuters, "We are still making changes to our production processes in order to minimise effects both locally and globally for the automotive industry.

The car manufacturer added that the production was lost.

The building of the Nissan Versa, Kicks, and March models is managed by Aguascalientes Plant 1 of Nissan while the Plant 2 assembls the Senta. Meanwhile, CIVAC facility Nissan is producing different models including the Versa, NV200 and Frontier pick up trucks.

Data from INEGI National Statistics Agency shows that Nissan was after General Motors the second-largest car producer in Mexico.

Also in Mexico, Stellantis announced a number of cuts in production. In particular, Auto News reports that during the week of June 7 the Toluca plant will shut down in the country due to chip shortfall. The Dodge Journey, Fiat Freemont and Jeep Compass models are built on this site.
